The Steelers have signed 14 addittional free agents to reserve or offseason contracts bringing the number to 80. I believe they must maintain an off season cap of 80 players on their roster. QB - Probably only one of the three behind Ben will remain. My guess is Byron Leftwich if he stays healthy. Perhaps Try Smith becomes a project.
RB - Mewelde Moore likely gone. Baron Batch and John Clay battle for 4th spot.
WR - Unit potentially remains intact. Sign a developmental player to replace Grisham who was signed by Broncos. Arnaz Battle let go on 9 Feb.
TE - Unit may remainn intact.
OL - Could be a lot of change here if Steelers draft high. Pouncey, Gilbert, Essex, Foster, and Legursky probably back. Perhaps either Colon or Starks but not both. Big Juicy could be history.
DL - Hoke has retired. Smith mulling it over and should. Need another nose tackle.
LB - Farrior may retire if not, Foote gone. Need help in the middle.
CB - McFadden gone. The yoing pups need to recover and enjoy a full training camp. McFadden is let go on 9 Feb
S - Could remain intact for one more year.
ST - Sepulveda has had his chance. Question is wehther Suisham will be replaced.

The 2011 Roster Transitions to 2012The 2011 Roster Transitions to 2012 Hello folks. Have been on travel for a while and trying to catch up after an extended trip. A few more roster changes. Stocking up on tight ends. Signing of Leonard Pope is an interesting addition; Lyons was listed as a WR last year. Unlike many, sad to see Will Gay go. Time for Keenan Lewis and the young cornerbacks to step up. … and they signed an actual full back! BurghBoy will like that! Jamon Meredith signed by Tampa Bay but he did not play a snap last year even with all ther O-line injuries. Not sure status of DE Elisha Joseph, he was signed on December 12th but no longer shows up on the Steelers roster.

The 2011 Roster Transitions to 2012The Steelers announced that Aaron Smith, James Farrior and Chris Kemoeatu will be released. None of these transactions including the release of Hines Ward has been announced but all this should happen before the 13th of March. Smith, Farrior and Ward represent significant team leadership in addition to their skill as players, diminished as it may be. Big juicy a lot of unfulfilled potential.

The 2011 Roster Transitions to 2012The big change is the pending release of Hines Ward. I thought they would wait to see if they could come to terms with Jerrico Cothcery before making this move. The end of an era; hopefully Hines will be in the Hall of Fame and also end up coaching wide receivers! My guess is he will try to sign up woth another team this season to close out a wonderful career.
